The Scoop on the 2013 Online Competition (Read the whole thing!)

As part of this year’s Rockus Maximus we are going to be having an online voting competition as well as live concert events. You must be available to play one promotional concert in late February or early March at a Pasco Library, as well as the Battle event on March 22, 2013 at the Rotary Pavilion in Pasco. The online competition is intended to heavily promote the concerts and provide a chance for contestant bands and their loyal fans to win additional prizes. The online event will begin approximately four weeks before the final Battle concert event. Fans can win prizes by creating the best video to support their favorite band.

For the online competition, you will need to make two videos promoting yourselves and a social cause you believe in, then post them online via Facebook, YouTube, and/or Vimeo. Bands will be expected to promote these videos (and themselves) in order to gain votes. Video cameras will be available on loan from the Pasco Libraries if needed. Voting will run the entire promotion period online at facebook.com/rockusmaximus16 and pascolibraries.org.

Videos will include:

*A band introduction, where you will have a chance to introduce yourself and let the viewers get to know your personalities.

*A social cause video, where each band gets to promote any social cause, event, idea, or organization that they think is important to the world. Hey, we have to be somewhat educational here.

Using these videos and any other appropriate promotion efforts, bands will need to acquire as many votes as possible during the promotion window, with voting ending at 12:00pm on March 22nd. The winning bands from the online competition will be announced at the final Battle show. Winners will receive a $500 Encore Music gift card for 1st Place and a $250 card for 2nd Place. It is possible to win both the online and live competitions. The winning band(s) may also have the opportunity to play an exposition show at the Pasco County Maker's Fair, to be held March 23, 2013 at the Rotary Pavilion.
