Exporting a List into an RSS feed and Sharing it with OthersYou will need to be logged into your Pasco County Library System account. You will also need to be logged into an RSS aggregator. For our example, we will use the RSS aggregator that comes with “My Yahoo”. You can view your list(s) by selecting “My Lists” from the green tray along the bottom of the screen, next to “My Saved Searches” and “My Account”.
For our example, we have one list named “Sharks”. Items in the list will appear on the left. Any additional lists will appear on the right. The number of items in your lists will be next to the list name on the right, in parenthesis.
Being logged into “My Yahoo” in a different browser window to do the next steps. The RSS feeds will appear on the right side of the screen of the “My Yahoo” account.
In the catalog window, click on the RSS icon to export your list. We will be choosing the list “Sharks”.
A new, larger window will appear prompting you to subscribe to the feed. For our example, we will choose “My Yahoo” by clicking on the “Subscribe Now” button.
Now looking at your “My Yahoo” RSS aggregator account, it will appear with a new screen. You will be prompted to accept or reject the RSS feed. For our example, we will choose the option to “Keep It”.
After choosing the option to keep the RSS feed content, it will appear on top of your existing RSS feeds. To share your RSS feed, please click on the Options tab to the right of your RSS feed and choose “More Info”.
Copy the address in the box next to the label “Content URL” and email it to others you want to share your RSS feed with. For example, a teacher sharing a list with students or a Battle of the Bands competitor what he/she is reading with fans. They will need to have an RSS aggregator as well.
