1. Approve/Review Minutes

Motion to approve September 18, 2024, minutes.

 

1. Officer/Committee Report
   1. President Report

Roz Fenton discussed the events of the January 2025 Library Advisory Board Meeting. Roz Fenton also mentioned and thanked the library system for its work with FEMA and disaster recovery. Roz is excited for the reopening of the Hudson Library Branch in late January. Also discussed was the exciting expansion of the library system through the Wesley Chapel Library and a potential 10th location. 

 

1. Vice President Report

Gail Hannas is working on updating the Friends Handbook. If there are any updates friend are encouraged to send over to there branch manager.

Reviewed quarterly Countywide Friends financials.

   1. Friends of the Library Summit Rescheduled to 2/26 11:30AM @ Land O’ Lakes Library

 

1. New Business
   1. Funding Proposal- Silent Disco- Hannah
      

      Hannah Weber presented on Silent Disco Headsets and the possibility of the Friends of the Library funding a set to the library system.

   2. Friends Book Handling Process- Gail
      
      Gail Hannas shared how the Land O Lakes Friends take in donations and deal with donations. Anyone that is interested in learning about how this group of friends handles donations reach out to Gail Hannas. 

   3. Appoint Social Media Coordinator
      
      Joy Vincent, Friend of the Starkey Ranch Library has volunteered to coordinate the Friends of the Library Facebook page. Joy will post events on behalf of all friends groups. If there is anything that a group would like to feature on the page to reach out to Joy Vincent.

   4. Preliminary Discussion- Membership Fees- Roz
      
      Discussing eliminating or changing the membership fee for becoming a friend. The proposed change would eliminate the fee to join the friends but will allow for people to be benefactors and give money. This topic will be discussed at the Friends Summit.

   5. February is Love Your Library Month
      
      There will be a new Beanstack reading challenge. The marketing team has designed a car magnet that will be handed out at the Summit. The magnets are in celebration of love your library month.
