  1. Approve/Review Minutes January 15, 2025

  1. Officer/Committee Report
    1. President Report
      1.  Roz Fenton thanks Joy Vincent for her Facebook contributions on the Friends Facebook page, and encourages other Friends members to like, share, and support the page.
      2.  Suggestions for the handbook should be directed to Robert Speich for review.
      3. Roz Fenton and Gail Hannas will be presenting at an annual event at the Pasco Clerk’s Office, on August 21, 2025, in Dade City, FL. Other presentations will be held at different rotary groups.
      4. Roz Fenton has an appointment with an attorney to come up with a list of estate attorneys to utilize the packets that Robert Speich and Hannah Weber put together.
    2. Vice President Report
      1. Topics were discussed later in the meeting.
    3. Treasurer Report
      1. The report does not include the recent $10,000 donation from the Otis Pike Estate.

 

  1. Unfinished Business
    1. Recap President/Treasurer Meeting
      1. The meeting went well, and follow-up meetings will be forthcoming. Any questions for the accountant can be forwarded to Hannah Weber or Robert Speich.
    2. Handbook Update
      1. Robert Speich will distribute a final draft to the branch managers, and a meeting date and time will be scheduled to review the handbook (September, at the earliest).

 

  1. New Business
    1. Business Membership Opportunities
      1. The New Port Richey Library offers a membership within their Friends of the Library pamphlet, for  businesses interested in becoming a Friend of the Library. Other Friends of the Library groups are interested in offering a similar membership – feedback and suggestions regarding the guidelines, business membership costs, renewal options, etc. will be complied, and Robert Speich offered to draft a proposal.
    2. Email List of Friends Officers for Each Branch
      1. It was suggested to use a free email distribution list, or for the officers’ email addresses to be added to a Gmail distribution list. Establishing an email list of Friends Officers would make it more  efficient to distribute announcements and other information.
    3. Friends Facebook Page - Support and Contributions
      1. Any pictures and stories from any Friends events, and outreach events, can be sent to Joy Vincent’s email: joydvincent@gmail.com. 
    4. Chester W. Taylor Elementary Support/Pasco Schools
      1. Chester W. Taylor Elementary School reached out to Sean McGarvey, Library Director, to see if children’s books could be donated to the school. The school is a K-8, Title One, F-Rated school, and they are looking to partner with Libraries to enhance the students’ reading scores. The Friends of the Library are willing to donate books to the school
    5. Countywide Friends Sponsored Friend and Volunteer Breakfast/Gala
      1. (Tentative) Save the Date: October 18, 2025, 10:00 a.m., at the Starkey Ranch Theatre. Includes all the Friends, and the most active volunteers from each library branch.
    6. Website Subpage Update
      1. The Friends subpage to the Pasco Libraries website – includes meeting dates, meeting information, and information on how to donate to the Friends. Patrons who want to donate via PayPal will have to complete the donation form, which is provided on the subpage.
    7. Other
      1. It was suggested to create The Friends of the Library shirts with the Friends logo imprinted. Pricing and logistics will be further discussed.
