Position Overview and Impact:

The Adult Literacy tutoring program will begin at the New River Branch Library. Tutors will receive a training session, support materials, and staff support. This extremely important service will help members of our community to improve their literacy skills. Tutors can meet with learners in a group or in one-to-one sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend a training session
  • Participate in organizing, setting up, and running Conversation Corner sessions
  • Participate in one-to-one tutoring sessions
  • Commit to one year of service with a flexible schedule

Qualifications:

  • Be 18 yrs of age or older

  • Be a self starter and work without close supervision

  • Interact and communicate successfully with others

  • Have a positive attitude and a willingness to advocate on behalf of the library

Training and support provided:

  • Orientation, training session, and support materials

  • Varies based on your availability and learner needs
